Matthew Stevens reaches last 16 of Welsh Open
MATTHEW Stevens has reached the last 16 of snooker's Welsh Open.
The Carmarthen star, who defeated Alfie Burden in the first round of the event in Newport, won his second game in successive days with a 4-2 defeat of China's Liang Wenbo.
Stevens found himself 2-1 down early on before battling his way to victory.
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's Mark Allen made progress with a 4-2 defeat of Marco Fu.
