'Masked robber held a gun in my face at takeaway'

A MAN has spoken of the moment a gun was pointed in his face by a masked robber who demand cash from a takeaway.

The incident took place at the Shahi Tandoori in Trallwn, at around 10.45pm on Thursday.

The raider burst into the premises, threatened staff and then made off with cash from the till.

Police said a gold-coloured Vauxhall Vectra car was seen to drive away from the scene at around the same time, and they are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Speaking exclusively to the Evening Post, one of the workers present that night has spoken of the raid for the first time.

The man, who only wanted to be identified by his first name, Ahmad, said: "He pointed the gun at me. I stepped forward, I thought that it was probably a fake but I was shocked

"He put a Lidl carrier bag on the counter and said to put the money in the bag.

"He kept his distance and kept pointing the gun at me.

"I thought that he was going to shoot me so I kept on shaking.

"Then he just picked the bag up and just ran.

"I ran after him to se where he was going and I saw a car driving off.

"Then I called then police.

"They arrived very quickly, to be fair, with their guns, it was very full-on.

"I still can't believe it happened. You don't see much gun crime in Swansea."

Ahmad, who said the robber was wearing a mask, added that he was only helping out at the takeaway as a favour.

He said: "The owner was ill and I'm his son's mate, I was only helping out."

However the owner praised his actions.

Ahmad said: "He was all right about it. He said I did the right thing.

"You don't really do anything if someone is pointing a gun straight at you."

Police say a similar incident took place, earlier the same night, in Gorslas Service Station near Cross Hands, also involved a man possibly wearing a Halloween mask who threatened the cashier with what appeared to be a gun.

Police in both areas are working together, although the incidents have not been confirmed as linked.

Police have issued a description of a man they want to talk to the robbery at the Trallwn takeaway. He is described as 5ft 7in, of medium build, and wearing a black hooded top and a black plastic Halloween mask with white colouring around the eyes, nose and cheeks.

Police also want to talk to anyone who used Gorslas Service Station or was in the area between 9.30pm and 10.15pm.
