Carmarthen man threw 13-year-old boy into reservoir 'to teach him a lesson''
A CARMARTHEN man threw a 13-year-old boy into the town reservoir, injuring his arm, to teach him a lesson, a court has been told.
Appearing before Carmarthen magistrates, Anthony Christopher Hande Williams, 27, of Belvedere Avenue, admitted assaulting the boy on June 11 at the reservoir.
Prosecuting, Rhian Millidge said the boy had been fishing at the reservoir several weeks earlier when he became annoyed by Williams's daughters, who were disturbing the fish by throwing stones.
The boy threatened to push the girls, both younger than him, in the water and later pushed the older daughter into the water.
A few weeks later Williams went up to the reservoir, hoping to find the boy and make him cry, said Mrs Millidge.
She added that Williams pushed the boy off his bike and picked him up, saying: "Come on big boy, you're going in the water."
Stitches
He then threw the boy in the water.
The boy hit his elbow on a rock as he landed and needed four stitches for the cut.
Defence solicitor, David Williams, said Williams had become annoyed after the boy had pushed his 12-year-old daughter in the water and threatened to also push the four-year-old daughter in.
Mr Williams said Williams's partner had contacted the police after the initial incident, who had decided that no further action would be taken.
He said Williams had only intended to frighten the boy, adding: "He had not intended to do anything more than that, unfortunately the boy did bang his forearm in the water, it's not very deep."
Sentencing was adjourned until Wednesday.
Magistrates warned that a community order was being considered.
