Man taken to Morriston Hospital following Swansea house fire
A SWANSEA man has been taken to hospital after a fire engulfed his home.
Police and the fire service are investigating the blaze which took place at a Mansel Street property in Swansea at 10.50am.
A male casualty has been taken to Morriston Hospital, with non life threatning injuries.
Firefighters rescued one cat, but one died due to the fire.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "The fire was confined to the basement. The house has been severely affected by smoke and heat.
"The crew rescued one cat but another one died."
She added that along with the RSPCA a fire investigation officer attended as the incident is under investigation.
Three crews attended — Swansea Central, Sketty and Morriston.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that police were conducting a joint investigation with the fire service.
