She said: "They found a quantity of drugs on the premises.

"The defendant was interviewed about the drugs and said where he had purchased the items.

"As far as the cannabis was concerned, he said he had in the past supplied his friends with cannabis and he doesn't charge them for it."

She said police found 1.74 grams of amphetamines worth £150, 18.79 grams of mephedrone — commonly known as meow meow — worth £190, and 122.48 grams of cannabis resin.

"When he was asked about his mobile phone he said it was his friend's but there were text messages on it which link him to supplying the drugs to five to ten friends during the last few months," she said.

Defending Thomas, Steve Lloyd asked magistrates to give him full credit for his early guilty plea.

He said: "The crown accepts that he and the group of his friends do smoke cannabis and socially supply each other with it.

"When one has it and another doesn't they supply each other."

Magistrates adjourned sentencing until Friday and ordered the probation service to put together a report about Thomas's background.
