Man seen running away from armed robbery
WITNESSES who may have seen an armed robber running from the scene of the crime are being urged to come forward.
Police have renewed appeals for information after a 50-year-old shop assistant was threatened at knife point during a raid on a Llanelli Post Office.
The raid happened at Furnace Post Office at around 8.45pm on Wednesday.
It is understood a man is shown on CCTV entering the shop in a grey hooded top before brandishing a knife and threatening a 50-year-old female shop assistant.
He then raided the money from the till before leaving.
Police especially want to speak to anyone who saw a man walking or running from the Post Office up Old Road and in the direction of the Thomas Arms.
He is described as white, in his late teens to early 20's, wearing a light grey hooded top, with black navy coloured drawstrings. On the front of the top is block writing. He is also wearing navy blue training bottoms.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could help the investigation is asked to contact police immediately.
Police arrested five suspects in connection with the robbery on Wednesday. It is unclear whether any of them have been charged.
The Post Office's owner, Kevin Rees, said the shop assistant, called Christine, was shaken-up, but otherwise fine.
He added: "I don't know how much was taken. I'm too scared to touch the till at the moment."
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "A number of suspects were located shortly after by officers, and, following their arrest, taken to Llanelli Police Station.
"Police are currently investigating this offence.
"Police would like to reassure the community that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with this offence and that no-one was injured during this incident."
Anyone who has information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
