Man's benefit fraud proved in absence
A MAN has been convicted in his absence of benefit fraud.
Ebrahim Nasiri, aged 38, of Princess Way, Swansea, faced two charges of failing to notify changes in his circumstances, namely that his entitlement to housing benefit and Jobseeker's Allowance would have been altered by him becoming a student at the University of West London.
He had claimed £945 in Jobseekers' Allowance between September and December 2011 and £3,869.99 in Housing Benefit over 10 months.
He did not attend for the hearing and city magistrates proved it in his absence.
He will have to attend in two weeks or a warrant may be issued.
