Man killed in fatal crash named locally as former soldier
THE motorcyclist killed in a collision in Gorseinon has been named locally as former soldier Jonathan Smith.
Mr Smith, from Loughor, died in a collision between his silver Kawasaki ZX6R and a silver Nissan Micra at around 7.30pm on the A4240 Alexandra Road.
The Nissan was being driven by a local lady from Park Road onto Alexandra road when the impact took place between it and the motorcycle which was travelling along Alexandra Road from the direction of Gorseinon Cross towards Loughor.
The Ambulance Service attended and provided help and treatment to both parties.
The rider of the motorcycle was taken to Morriston Hospital where a short time later he tragically died from his injuries.
He is understood to have worked for Fitness Studio near Gorseinon and Burns Fitness in Mariner Street, Swansea.
South Wales Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have been in the area at the relevant time and who may have seen either vehicle, also, anyone who stopped to provide help and has not yet given their details.
The road was closed for around 4 hours whilst the police conducted initial investigations.

The death was the second of two on Swansea roads last night.
Earlier, a 37-year-old man was in collision with a white coach just before 5pm in The Kingsway.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Morriston Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
South Wales police are asking anyone who witnessed this collision, the movements of the pedestrian or the manner in which the vehicle was being driven before the collision, to contact the Western Roads Policing Office at Lakeside Swansea on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Officers particularly want to speak to anyone who stopped to assist but who left the scene without supplying their details.
