Man in intensive care in hospital after car crashes into wall
TWO people are in hospital, one of them in intensive care, following a crash last night.
South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision, which happened at around 10.35pm in Dwr Y Felin Road, Neath, close to the college.
A blue Ford Fiesta was being driven by a 31-year-old man with a 21-year-old woman in the front seat when it crashed into a wall.
The driver suffered serious injuries and is in intensive care in Morriston Hospital.
The passenger was less seriously injured but is also being treated at Morriston Hospital in Swansea.
Police said the road was quiet at the time of the collision.
It was closed for around five hours while investigations were carried out and the car was recovered.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or who stopped to provide help, or anyone who might have seen the Fiesta being driven prior to the collision and who had not yet given their details.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit in Cockett, Swansea on 01792 456999 ext: 52 331.

“Shows the standard of some local Councillors, when they can't even spell properly. Dear me, and they are the people who are supposed to be in control of our communities !!”

“i think its best to wait to find out what has caused this accident before people start bad mouthing the driver, and if he was speeding or going slightly over the limit then surely the punishment is worse than the crime in this case. of course this would be different had a pedestrian been hit. hope the pair of them do recover and that the truth of the accident comes to light”

“i have heard that this idiot was doing 60mph in a 30mph zone, anyone who lives in neath knows full well about the speed bumps, and the curve in the road under the bridge! im sorry but its just lucky there were no pedestrians otherwise someone could have been killed!!!!”

“I went to college there - and "mr g llevans" is either a serial speeder or needs to go to Specsavers. Yes, the road narrows under the bridge - but there are adequate signs and there is plenty of room for a car to traverse through it at a decent speed. The road is marked 30mph - and several people (esp. at this time of the morning) will exceed that limit. Not only that, but a tired driver is less alert and potentially may not have reacted to the bridge in time - there's nothing wrong with the construction of the bridge or the road beneath it - just the careless drivers using it.”
