“siarad2 - electric cars have noise added to them specifically to make them noisy enough to hear.”

“When I worked in the USA crossing roads was illegal except at intersection crossings, a pain walking 100 yards just to cross but it was safe.
A friend was locked up overnight for crossing against the 'red man' at least he was at an intersection! jay walking is taken seriously there.
It'll get worse here once electric cars become more prevalent, how blind people will cope I don't know.”

“It's no coincidence that these accidents happen in areas where a large proportion of people are less educated. They don't have the common sense needed to be able to cross a road safely.”

“Its mainly people who are drunk that this happens too on this road. I only say this after witnessing a person in which me and my mate were driving past staggering along Fabian Way in no fit state, doubt he even knew where he was or going really (This probably being the person we saw tbh =\ as driving back through Town not long after we saw Two Police Cars and an Ambulance) Months before this we came along Fabian Way to find that a body was on the Road and he was pronounced dead at the Scene, not a very good sight to see... really shook me up! People need to get less drunk if they know they have to walk along that road! So dangerous.”

“Public safety doesn't seem to be particularly high on anyone's list these days. Even the NHS are trying to usher people off more quickly than need be.
Money is more important than life, with that in mind, how long will it take for this road to be made safer? Too long.”

“Should be a bridge, there is a doctors surgery and dentist going near there, with no parking for patients. I would not like to think about the problems elderly people will have crossing that road then!!”

“The number of stories about people being hit on this road, the number of spots adorned with flowers and yet people still take their lives in their hands by crossing wherever it suits them. I have seen people doing it and they are crazy. There are crossings, admittedly they are quite far apart but realistically how many do they need. I hope they guy makes a full recovery but I am sick of drivers/the council/anyone being blamed for people taking unnecessary risks. You cannot legislate for stupidity”

“There should be solid barriers on the central reservation so that the only place to cross is at the actual pedestrian crossings. I've lost count of the amount of times someone has materialised through the plants ready to cross and startled me, even at the spot the last person lost their life. I can't understand why some people would rather risk their lives, and the lives of others, than walk a short distance to the crossing.”

“FINGERS crossed this person makes a full recovery, there seems to be a serious problem with this road as this is not the first or last person that gets hurt or killed as before, the council must act now, maybe better lighting, slower speed limits, more crossings whatever it takes they must act, you can educate people how to cross a road but we are going wrong somewhere, I hope the driver was not speeding or had been drinking as that person will also be suffering”
