THE body of a man was found hanged at the railway bridge at Carmarthen this morning (Wednesday).

The police are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward.

They are not treating the death as suspicious.

British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman Huw Waghorn said: "Officers were called to the line at Bascule Bridge, known locally as the White Bridge, near Carmarthen rail station, following reports that a man was found hanging from a railway bridge.

"Officers from BTP and Dyfed-Powys Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 7.21am.

"Paramedics also attended and the body of a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

"Inquiries are ongoing to confirm the identity of the man and the circumstances leading up to his death.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, or who saw anyone on, or near to, the railway line, to contact police.

"You may have some key information which can help officers establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident."
