Man guilty of violent attack at nightclub
A SWANSEA man has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work for the community after pleading guilty to a violent attack that left a fellow nightclub customer with head injuries.
Adam Roy Denniston was arrested after assaulting Ashleigh Jacob Lewis at Oceana in the city centre, Swansea Crown Court was told.
Passing sentence, Judge Keith Thomas ordered that the unpaid work must be completed during a 12-month community order.
Denniston, aged 24, of Merlin Crescent, Townhill, had been due to go on trial three weeks ago. But on September 7 no jury was needed to decide the case — after he changed his plea and admitted unlawfully causing actual bodily harm to Mr Lewis on June 29 last year.
When the case was listed for trial, Denniston also faced a charge of causing actual bodily harm to Mr Lewis's then-girlfriend, Jodi Burgess, in the Oceana incident. But after he pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Lewis, the prosecution decided to offer no evidence against him in relation to Miss Burgess and on this charge there was a formal verdict of not guilty.
