Man gave up waiting for friend and drove while twice over limit
A MAN who waited two hours for his friend to return home to let him in gave up waiting and drove despite being twice the legal limit.
Gary Niedzialek, aged 31, of Tabernacle Street in Neath, admitted having 70 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped by police on the A4217 in Pentrechwyth.
He was seen driving erratically at 1.45am and later told officers he had been due to stay at a friend’s house but the pair had lost touch with each other in the city centre. Niedzialek said he had waited two hours for his friend to return home before he gave up and decided to drive himself back to Neath.
Prosecutor Julie Sullivan told city magistrates he had a previous drink driving conviction from five years ago and he was told he would therefore receive a three year ban.
He was also fined £240, told to pay £85 in costs and a £24 victim surcharge.
