Man critical in hospital after alleged attack involving Moped riders
A MAN is critical in hospital with a fractured skull after he was found in the middle of a dual carriageway in Swansea.
The 22-year-old was discovered lying on the central reservation opposite Sainsbury's supermarket in Quay Parade by a passing motorist at around 10.50pm on Saturday.
He is currently in a critical but stable condition at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
South Wales Police believe he was the victim of an assault and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward with information.
Detective Inspector Peter Doyle, of Swansea Central CID, said: "We believe that a group of nine Moped riders travelled from the direction of Wind Street and approached the victim in Quay Parade where one of them allegedly hit him over the head with an unknown implement.
"They then rode off towards Eastside leaving the victim with serious head injuries. He has undergone surgery and his condition is critical but stable.
"At this stage we are treating this as an unprovoked attack and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who knows the identity of the moped riders to come forward."
Anyone with information should contact Swansea Central CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
