A NEW project will be making a splash on a main Swansea street in celebration of its most famous poet.

Art charity LOCWS International is totally transforming the city's High Street with a new mural in a creative celebration of Dylan Thomas.

A paint donation has been made by Dulux Decorator Centres in Swansea.

And artist Pete Fowler has been commissioned to carry out the work on the street to help brighten up the area, which has a number of empty shops.

The charity's Art Across the High Street project will brighten up the area in time for the poet's centenary celebrations in 2014, after volunteers transformed a former pub with paint.

And the project is being partly funded by a regeneration grant from Swansea Council.
