Hey Guys!

This is my first blog for the Evening Post all about rehearsals and getting ready for the Mark Jermin Stage School production of Hairspray, which I am playing Seaweed. It is going well and I'm enjoying every minute for rehearsals. I hope you enjoy reading my blog every week!

Wake up at 9.30am, can't believe rehearsals start at 10am. I had to learn my lines in the car. My scenes are up first which is good, but last night I kept messing up my lines and this time I want to get it right!

I get to rehearsals and join in with the warm up. For the warm up we do some singing and play a game which is always good fun!

The first scene I rehearsed was Seaweed's first scene where he meets Tracy. This is one of my favourite scenes, it's the first time the audience gets to meet the character of Seaweed so I want to make a good impression, Mark the Director said "It is going well but everyone needs to be off script by next week." More line learning for me I think!

For the show I have to speak in an American accent which is quite hard, but I have had some experience before and I have just come back from LA so this really helps!

We focused today on the song 'Run and Tell That', which is my favourite number. It is a really fun, upbeat song and the dancing routine is really energetic. This takes up loads of energy. I am finding it hard to sing my best and dance at the same time which is something I need to work on over the next few weeks.

As well as focusing on this, I need to get into my character. Seaweed is really lively and friendly which is a lot like myself but I need to make sure I am convincing as Seaweed. But I always like a challenge!

We started to learn the harmonies for the song 'Without Love' which is in act two but I can already tell this is going to take a long time as they are really hard to learn.

I am really tired after a long day of rehearsals but we have got a lot done today. 'Run and Tell That' is starting to take shape and we've made a start on some of the harmonies. Everyone is working really hard to make this a great show.
