Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins on suicide watch
IAN Watkins, frontman of Lostprophets has been placed on suicide watch, a court has heard.
The 35-year-old is being checked five times an hour while he waits to stand trial accused of raping a baby.
His barrister Sally O’Neill told a pre-trial review at Cardiff Crown Court that a clinical psychologist had recommended he be moved from prison to a secure hospital before his trial began in October, so he could receive assessment and treatment.
Watkins has denied 24 offences, including two counts of raping a baby and possession of an extreme image of a person having sex with an animal.
Two women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been accused alongside the singer.
The 24-year-old woman has denied all charges, but the 20-year-old has admitted sexually touching a child and taking and distributing images of the same child.
They have all been remanded in custody after Judge Eleri Rees adjourned the hearing until October 14.
The charges against Watkins, of Pontypridd, near Cardiff, date back to 2007.
