Lord Sugar's partner looking for Welsh recruits
The first ever Welsh Apprentice candidate was shown the door by Lord Sugar on Wednesday, but Wales will have another chance to prove it has what it takes when the guru’s business partner heads to Cardiff this weekend in search of recruits.
Former Apprentice star Susan Ma is on the lookout for beauty fanatics to become brand ambassadors for her skincare range, in which Lord Sugar has invested.
The 2011 contestant will showcase her pure plant extract skincare range Tropic, and explain the advantages of selling her products as an ambassador.
Ma, who lost to winning candidate Tom Pellereau in series seven of The Apprentice, amused viewers with questions such as: “Do the French go camping? Are the French very fond of their children? Do a lot of people drive in France?”
But she survived until week 12 of 14 and earned a fan in Lord Sugar, who last year invested in her skincare range. Ma became the first Apprentice loser to win financial backing from the business guru.
Lord Sugar’s 50/50 share enabled her to employ 10 staff, build a website, and move her business from her kitchen to new premises in Croydon, Ma told Fabulous Mag.
On her website, Ma says Tropic ambassadors can be their own boss and make 25-35 per cent commission.
“Our Social Selling Company offers our Ambassadors a career they’ve always dreamed of,” she says.
“With flexible working hours, proven earning potential, the chance to make many new friends and the opportunity to be your own boss – you control when you work, how often and for how long.
“Which makes this the perfect career to fit around busy family lives or any other work commitments you may have.”
Ma launched Tropic Pure Plant Skin Care in 2007. Derived from 100 per cent pure plant extracts, the British-made vegan Tropic range has featured in Vogue Magazine, Brand New You Magazine and the Independent newspaper.
Investing in Tropic in March 2012, Lord Sugar said: “After filming ends, I tell all the contestants to give me a call if they need me. At the You’re Hired show after The Apprentice final, I mentioned Susan as someone I’d be contacting in the future.
“Well, I did contact her, and then she didn’t leave me alone until I invested in her. She has impressive enthusiasm and work ethic as well as a fantastic product, and I am confident in her ability to make a success of this venture.”
Ma will be at the De Vere Village Hotel, Pendwyallt Road, Coryton, Cardiff on Sunday June 30, between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
She will later head to Bristol, before visiting Birmingham, Chester and York next month.
