A 4000 mile cycle ride will be

held on 15th – 20th April 2013 to help raise money for Sikusi,

which is a school in Uganda, Ty Hafan Children's Hospice and Breast Cancer

Campaign.

The event, which will be held at Maesybryn Primary School, Llantwit Fardre,

will include 6-year-old Dylan Beard and his school mates participating in a

4000 mile-equivalent relay cycle.

The event has been organised by Dylan Beard after he was

diagnosed with a condition called hypopituitarism. This condition means that

Dylan's pituitary gland, and other glands, do not work. His diagnosis has

motivated him to do something that he loves (cycle) on a big scale in order to

raise money for campaigns close to his heart.

Dylan said: "For Christmas my dad

bought me a race bike and a turbo trainer. I love to cycle and do it as often

as I can to help with my condition. Since having my bike I have thought of an

idea to raise money for charity. I am going to ride my bike to Uganda, well on

my turbo trainer! I have looked on the internet and found out it is 4000 miles.

I have asked my friends at school, Olympic Gold Medalist, Nicole Cook, and

Wales Rugby Captain, Sam Warburton to help me. It will take us 5 days to

complete the 4000 miles. The money we raise will be split between the three

campaigns; the money that we raise

for the school will give them electricity so that they can have heating and

lighting."

Dylan is still awaiting reply

from Sam Warburton and Nicole Cook, but hopes that they will be able to support

him in this wonderful event.
