Llanelli youngsters should aim high says head teacher
SELF-BELIEF that the sky is the limit is key to success for Llanelli pupils, believes one head teacher.
Coedcae School's head Tracey Senchal hopes that this year's GCSE success story will encourage Llanelli youngsters to aim for the top as the new term begins.
Results at Coedcae shot up last Thursday, with 84 per cent of Year 11 pupils achieving grades A* to C — compared with 49 per cent just two years ago.
Ms Senchal said: "It's an absolutely brilliant community to work in and it is good to see that children getting the credit they deserve.
"I am a Llanelli girl myself and I have a passion that all of the children in Llanelli can achieve highly."
With schools starting back next week, she hopes the GCSE success will show youngsters in the town that there is nothing holding them back.
"Self-belief is the first thing as far as I'm concerned," she said. "It's getting these children to believe they can aim for the top and there's no glass ceiling — it's making them believe in themselves."
