LLANELLI students have put aside traditional music lessons in favour of rock classes.
Four youngsters at Coedcae School have passed rock school exams, which allow students with musical interest and talent to study without having to take up traditional instruments.

Head of music David Evans said: "We want to cater for pupils who have a musical ability but wish to pursue it through a rock focus rather than a traditional focus."
Instead of playing clarinets, violins and trumpets, the students are taught rock guitar techniques, learning three major pieces, scales and theory, before completing annual exams.
