3.30pm: This evening's Carmarthenshire Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli, has been postponed due to the weather. Around 200 guests were expected to attend.

2.30pm: Most First Cymru bus services to Swansea, with some exceptions, are back up and running.

2pm: Carmarthenshire Council confirms the B4309 between Llanelli and Five Roads has been reopened, and gritters are out treating it.

11.12am: First Cymru confirms services in Llanelli are suspended until further notice.

11am: AN accident involving a bus has led to the closure of Heol Llanelli in Trimsaran.

The neighbouring B4309 between Llanelli and Five Roads is also closed.

10.30am: Rubbish collections have been suspended from the Llanelli depot due to the snow.

10am: Schools across Llanelli have been forced to send children home due to heavy snowfall this morning.

Primary and secondary schools have either already closed, or are advising parents to collect their children as soon as they can.

Bigyn, Bryn, Brynsierfel, Lakefield, Stebonheath, Tumble, Ysgol y Felin, Copperworks, Swiss Valley, Morfa, Old Road, and Brynteg primaries have said the roads and grounds have become too dangerous due to a blanket of snow.

Staff at Dafen and Pentip have asked parents to collect their children as soon as possible, while taking care on the roads, and teachers at Heol Goffa have contacted all parents to inform them the school will be closing.

Ysgol Gwenllian, in Kidwelly, will be closed due to "hazardous conditions" on site, and Ysgol Dewi Sant shut its doors at 10am.

St Mary's Catholic School will close at 11.30am, with buses collecting pupils at 11am.

In Burry Port and Pembrey, Parc y Tywyn, Glan y Mor, Pembrey primary

Secondary school St John Lloyd is closing at 11am and buses will be on site for pupils. The L19 service is not running, and parents must make other arrangements. Pupils who rely on their parents for transport will be kept at the school until they arrive.

Pontiets and Pwll are also closed due to gathering snow.
