"I will be asking for a recorded vote to see which councillors support it and which do not."

Mr Lemon's call for the town council to be a unitary authority, wrestling away powers given to Carmarthenshire Council, was kicked into touch by the town council last month with a call for greater financial detail.
But Mr Lemon said he believes the authority could actually benefit from any switch of power.
"We could be quids in if the funding goes per head of population, as Llanelli has the biggest population in the county," he said.
Mr Lemon rubbished concerns voiced by Labour councillor Bill Thomas, who had warned that the council tax could double.
Mr Lemon said: "We would do it properly."

Dear god, the man is insane. Llanelli is far behind Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. It is smaller than Barry and Cwmbran, just about bigger than Neath while given Wrexham expanded borders of late, it is about two-thirds the size of our nations northern most large settlement. Realistically Llanelli is 8th when considering urban area's only, and when we take into account all the towns and villages we see both Bridgend and Port Talbot overtake it.
I don't think people should be taking this man seriously.”

“I must commend Cllr Lemon for making this journey in the public interest.
It will be interesting to see who and what will place obstacles in his way.
A true representative of the people acting in the interest of the people.
It must be the right route surely.
Failing that, perhaps I can be allowed to put forward a vote of no confidence in Carmarthenshire County Council.”

“Maybe a new administration would sort out existing infrastructure problems rather than plough funds into grand gestures. I'm thinking of making the roads around Pemberton and Trostre safer for non-motorists - it's insane that it is safer to catch a bus between the two shopping sites than to walk. They also need to provide safe pedestrian access to Delta Lakes (the pavement runs out before Lidls) and so on.
The County Council points out that it has invested in Parc y Scarlets and the new Eastgate development, frankly PyS is losing money hand over fist and the new development is not going to provide a pleasant experience while the rest of the town looks so tired and scruffy.
Lets face it, Trostre and Pemberton Parks have effectively killed off Llanelli town (Carmarthen is much nicer). Whoever thought that a a couple of retail parks taking all the big names out of the town centre wouldn't have disastrous consequences for the town needs to explain their thinking!”

“Congratulations to Cllr Lemon and his colleagues for at least having the courage debate a possible exit from Carmarthenshire Council. I like many believe that the town has been neglected by Carmarthenshire whose interest are too diverse to properly address the needs of Llanelli in its post industrial era.
An example of the short sightedness of Carmarthenshire Council and lack of interest in regenerating Llanelli was evident in its backing for the electrification of the railway line into Swansea when it really should have been arguing for the electrification of the line into Llanelli. (It would make much more sense to electrify the line that passes through Swansea and enters Llanelli via Llangenech, thereby providing a better rail service for the whole of West Wales.)
I wish Cllr Lemon well in his endeavors to get better investment for the town”
