Llanelli football match abandoned after referee 'assault'
A FOOTBALL match was abandoned over the weekend after the referee was reportedly assaulted.
Saturday's game between Greenfield Rovers and Llanelli Steel at Crown Park in Seaside was called off after 40 minutes because of the incident.
The fixture, contested in the Carmarthenshire Association Football League's Division 3, was 0-0 at the time it was called off.
General Secretary of the Carmarthenshire Football League, Colin Jenkins said he could not comment on the situation as it is set to go before the west Wales commission.
Both clubs also declined to comment.
