Llanelli Cardiac Support Group hopes to win share of £10k funding
PEOPLE with a history of heart problems could receive extra support thanks to this year's Cash For Communities scheme.
Llanelli Cardiac Support Group has applied for its share of the £10,000 funding pot available through initiative run by South West Wales Media.
The group, which meets at the Bryn & Trallwm Club in Llanelli, is among 24 projects which have so far applied for a share of the funds.
Run in conjunction with Western Power Distribution, the initiative supports community groups, charities, schools, play groups and other not-for-profit organisations.
If their bid is successful the group, which offers support and advice to anyone with heart issues or a history of them, will organise a special day out for its members.
Secretary Barbara Torry said: "If we receive funding it will go towards a coach trip."
Llanelli Cardiac group were successfully in the previous scheme, receiving more than £200, which was used to arrange dancercise classes for members.
This year's entrants have now been registered. These are: Llety Llanelli Foyer Young Person's Committee; Llanelli Amateur Athletics Club; Llanelli Cardiac Support Group; Llanelli Phoenix Inline Hockey; Carway Ladies Football Club; Burry Port Under13's Rugby; 1st Kidwelly Beavers; Breakthrough Llanelli; Llanelli Ramblers Festival of Walks; Llanelli Mencap; Pembrey and Burry Port Photographic Society; The Launch Pad; Llanelli Youth Theatre; Burry Port Opera; Llandyfaelog Pensioners; Cylch Meithrin Gwynfryn; Llanerch OAP ; Wellbeing Regeneration Ltd; Age Cymru Sir Gar; Burry Port Juniors RFC; Friends of Pentip; SA15; and Penyfan Llwynwhilwg T&R Association.
