Llanelli AFC chief Nitin Parekh assures fans over future for Reds
THE chairman of Llanelli's crisis-stricken football club has moved to reassure fans about its future — and thanked them for their support.
Llanelli AFC's Nitin Parekh issued a statement via the club's website, after it was announced the club was subject to its second winding-up order this year from HM Revenue and Customs.

He said: "We have, as a matter of principle, not made any comments on the tax situation, but what we can say is that we have an impeccable record of paying our tax in full and honestly over the past several years."
He said the club was run with the "highest levels of integrity" and hoped the situation would be "resolved in the near future".

The statement from Mr Parekh comes just days after manager Andy Legg and assistant Steve Jenkins left the club.
Mr Parekh said the "strain" of the tax investigation prompted the two to leave.
"We are extremely disappointed, but wish them well," he said. "Andy has been a great supporter of the club, both as a player and manager, and had a close relationship with those that ran the club."
He added his thanks for all the manager had done "on and off the pitch".
Bob Jeffrey, the head of the academy, will take responsibility for the first team with immediate effect, with Gary Lloyd as assistant manager.
"Many of you will be well aware of the excellent role he has played in developing the Llanelli academy from virtually nothing in 2006 to over 200 kids today," said Mr Parekh. "This appointment continues our philosophy of putting the club back into the community.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, players and staff who have continued to stand by the club at this difficult time."
Last week, Llanelli Town Council also announced it had given both the football and social club 28 days to pay outstanding rent of £18,000 — or it would terminate both the ground licence and club lease.
