Fish and chips and mushy peas — and a glass of Old Man's Creek Chardonnay 2008 (M&S, £4.99) A fab combination.

Not quite sure who the old man in question is, but this is a certainly a cracking Aussie chardonnay — zesty peach and melon fruits with a nice hint of oak. Well made, good value chardonnay from St Michael — tastes like it should cost a couple of quid more than it does.
