Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers admits he wants a defender after link with Swansea City's Ashley Williams
BRENDAN Rodgers has admitted he will be in the market for a central defender this summer after being linked with Swansea City's Ashley Williams.
The Liverpool boss took Joe Allen with him to Anfield after quitting the Liberty last May.
And there are suggestions that he could return for Williams when the current campaign comes to an end.
Rodgers has not commented on the Williams speculation, but admits he will be on the hunt for new faces in the close season. And with Reds veteran Jamie Carragher set to hang up his boots, central defence is one area Liverpool must bolster.

"There is a natural rebuilding with the likes of Carra going," Rodgers said.
"I am happy with the squad and if I can then put another three or four quality players to it, then great. But it is quality we are after, not quantity."

“I think BR should stay away from SC players.
His luck was down when WE took a chance on him, great it worked out for both parties, but you don't date your best mates girlfriend when she finishes with him and you don't start picking at your old club when there are 1000's of other players out there. At least not for a few years or it says a lot about you as a person.
He tried teaming up with Borini again and I can't think of a better waste of 10+ million.
I think its safe to say Joe Allen is not seen in the same light he was either since he left.
The 20 million we got from JA and BR has taken us to a new level and if some of our bigger players go it won't be for peanuts, I reckon with our excellent board and money in the bank and upcoming transfer fees should anyone leave, we will be fine no matter who goes.
I said it before, players come to swansea as unknowns and leave stars, people do not give our club credit and that will always remain in the city.”

“Brendan, surely you have not gone entirely one eyed to try and distroy the city of Swansea football club the club who gave you the chance when no other club wanted you. the club who made you a very rich man=== prove you are a great manager and go else where or try and develop your own, or are you afraid that the Swans under M.L will becone better than Liverpool”

“Wenger and Rodgers have obviously turned a blind eye to some of his cock ups ,back passes etc.
Let him go just inflate the price like we did for Allen.
Williams needs to place with another central defender who will cover his midstakes.
Lets get another £10 million in the kitty and let him go.”
