Law is important preventative step
WE all know smoking is bad for you and stopping smoking is the single most important thing any smoker can do to improve their health.
Yet, so many people still fail to kick the habit.
Taking that first daunting step on the road to a cigarette-free life can be difficult and temptation can sometimes prove too much. Taking that temptation away can only help smokers take the next step to giving up the fags completely.
A new law which stops supermarkets from displaying tobacco must be seen as a positive thing as smoking still remains a huge risk to our health here in Wales. The branding ban is aimed at reducing the uptake of smoking among young people in particular.

Some may argue the plain packaging will open the door to cheap imports and that there is already space on packets for health warnings.
But if the new law stops just one person from starting smoking — then surely it has been a success.
