MICHAEL Laudrup is promising his Swansea City side are only going to get better this season ahead of tomorrow's tricky trip to Newcastle United.

Laudrup is mulling over a host of big selection calls for the St James' Park clash.

But whatever happens on Tyneside this weekend, the Swansea manager is convinced that good times await for his team as his maiden Premier League campaign unfolds.

"It's too early to talk about positions in the table — I think we can only really do that with eight or ten games of the season to go," Laudrup said.

"Not only that, but a lot of them are getting used to a new football culture and a new country, not just a new team.

"And because of that, I think we will do better in the second half of the season than the first.

"I am looking to get a good number of points in the first half of the season, and in the second I am sure we will do better because the players will know each other better."

Laudrup refused to divulge what "a good number of points" would be, but it is safe to assume that he is well pleased with 13 from his first 11 Premier League games.
