Laudrup hails Swans after Valencia win
MICHAEL Laudrup has told Swansea City to believe they can compete with the finest sides in Europe after their sensational 3-0 triumph in Valencia.
Swansea stunned one of the favourites to win the Europa League on their own patch, with goals from Wilfried Bony, Michu and Jonathan de Guzman clinching one of the most startling results in the club’s 101-year history.
And Laudrup reckons his players will grow in stature thanks to their memories of the Mestalla.
“The players now know that they can play and compete without any problems even when they are playing against the big sides,” said the Swansea manager.
“I don’t know where this result ranks in Swansea’s history — I have only been here 15 months.
“But I think it was a great performance. It’s only our fifth game in Europe and this was against a big team."
