What is an LDP?
COUNCILS are currently in the process of producing their local developments plans.
An LDP is the blueprints local authorities work from in outlining how it would like to see areas developed and what kind of things are suitable for which area.
It includes leisure and health facilities and children's play areas. The LDP also identifies locations for affordable housing, employment, commercial buildings, community facilities, transport, waste, mineral developments and renewable energy.
The plan, due to come into force from 2014, will guide future planning decisions about what kind of land use developments will or will not be allowed.
It has to include evidence of community involvement as well as plans to protect sensitive areas of woodland, countryside and wildlife, reduce the effects of climate change and avoid noise, air and water pollution.
