THERE aren't many people who doubt the sacrifices made by our armed forces abroad, but how many men are prepared to strap on seven-and-a-half-inch heels in their honour?

In Swansea, the answer is at least one. That is the plan of dad-of-one Kevin Cozens, who later this year will test his head for heights when he totters along the seafront from the Civic Centre to Mumbles Pier wearing the footwear.

Kevin, aged 44, from Penlan, whose step-father was in the RAF, is hoping to raise £1,000 from his walk, which the former army cadet intends to donate to charity Help for Heroes, which seeks to provide better facilities for British servicemen and women.

"My wife thinks I'm nuts," he said. "But I really want to do something for our servicemen. The Government does not do enough to help them, and does not give them what they need. My walk will hurt me, but I will heal. I will never have to suffer like they do."

Anyone wishing to sponsor Kevin on his walk, which takes place on Saturday, August 22, can visit www.justgiving.com/kevincozensinheels
