Kev Johns records charity version of LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It
ENTERTAINER, radio presenter, actor — there are many ways to describe Kev Johns.
But there is now another to add to the list — rapper.
The Swansea Sound presenter has added another string to his bow, by contributing to a charity version of the LMFAO hit, Sexy and I Know It.
And the version, Swansea and I Know It, which has been released to raise money to help Bynea youngster Eva Rose who has cerebral palsy, even has the blessing of the American electronic dance duo.
Kev said: "I got a message asking if I would do it, and that LMFAO had given it their blessing, so I was more than happy to do it for Eva Rose.
"I recorded it with producer Dai Smith, who was in The Storeys, and who has worked with all sorts of top stars.
"I can't believe what they did with it, it sounds great."
Gorseinon-based Dai added: "The words were written by Noel Evans, who asked if I knew any rappers.
"My brother is Swansea Sound presenter Smithy, and he got Kev involved, who did an amazing job.
"I think it's really fun."
Four-year-old Eva Rose, from Bynea, went to American earlier this year, to undergo an operation to help her walk — and she continues to undergo rehabilitation.
The lyrics to the charity song were penned by family friend Noel Evans.
The 3M's worker said: "LMFAO are one of my children's favourites, and I was listening to the song, and the words just came to me.
"The idea was more than six months ago, but we had to get permission. They are related to Motown Records founder Berry Gordy and I ended up speaking to the mother of one of them, and explaining about who the record was for, and they were happy for us to do it."
Eva's dad Steve added: "We love the song — and we are really grateful for their help, as we are with all projects which have been organised to help us.
"Eva is doing fantastically well. She has a lot of work still to do, but she recently took her first 18 independent steps. All I really want is to see her and her twin Grace walking together hand in hand."
Swansea and I know it, which also features presenter Smithy, by the Eva Rose Jacks is available on iTunes, and at Swansea Sound. Other retailers interested in selling the CD should contact email@example.com
