CLASSICAL crossover singer Katherine Jenkins belted out her own take on the English national anthem during an extravaganza of American Football at Wembley Stadium.

The star from Neath sang God Save The Queen at the NFL International Series match on Sunday night between the St. Louis Rams and the New England Patriots.

Katherine, whose new album, This Is Christmas, is released today in the USA and Canada, was joined on stage by London mayor Boris Johnson, who was on hand to open the proceedings with a speech.

The star informed her 249,226 Twitter followers she had met fellow vocalist Pia Toscano at the game, which was attended by thousands of people eager to watch some of the NFL's best players in action.

She later tweeted a photo of herself with the members of the military and wrote: "Always love seeing the military at the NFL games... Nice meeting you all!"

The star starts her latest UK tour in Manchester in December.
