Justify Swans banner spend
I AM absolutely disgusted that in these times of local authority cutbacks Swansea Council sees it fit to invest the sum of £307, a figure I obtained via a FOI request to the council, on a roadside banner at the Civic Centre proclaiming the words Super Swans. I find it hard to believe that at a time when our roads are crumbling and our schools are in dire need of repair that such resources can be justified on this folly. Perhaps the council could enlighten us to the current budgetary policy as I fail to understand the logic in its spending.

“Put an FOI request in to ask how much the person employed to carry out these pathetic FOI requests is being paid.”

“What a total idiot. This is a pittance. Swansea FC has already been shown to be worth many millions to the city and area and this will only increase as the club maintains its high-profile presence in the Premier League, to the benfit of all in the city. How much did his petty and spiteful FOI request cost the council to answer?”

“Are you serious? £307 is a small gesture based on the amount of revenue likely to come in to the city based on the Swans recent cup win. As you are looking so deeply into to council spends with tedious FOI requests I think you will find there is a lot more to be worried about than the fact the council have spent money on a banner! Also you should consider the outcry if no banner was provided? I'd like to know just how far £307 would go to repairing a crumbling school. It would hardly cover the fee for a surveyor. Petty!”

“R S Armani perhaps the council weer just showing a bit of gratitude for the many million that the swan's bring into this area, almost £60 million i understand. If the ospreys ever manage to do the same then perhaps they could do it for them as well”
