Just focus on improving city
SA1 Swansea Waterfront could have been a much greater success if more money had been spent on infrastructure leading to it.
So says council leader Chris Holley who criticises the small amount of funding given to the project in comparison with that spent on Cardiff Bay. Councillor Holley says the infrastructure from the M4 is good until you get to Amazon but "it deteriorates rapidly after that".
This is slightly puzzling. In our opinion the roads leading to SA1 are perfectly adequate. It's when motorists try to leave SA1 and drive into the city that their troubles begin.
Jams between SA1 and the sweep of the bay could well give potential investors pause for thought, as could the 50mph stretch of the M4 through Port Talbot, but this can't be the whole story.
Bemoaning the fact that SA1 is Cardiff Bay's poor relation will not get us anywhere. Cardiff Bay spreads across a far wider area and contains several national status buildings.
Bearing grudges won't get Swansea anywhere. We would be better served concentrating on how to take advantage of what we already have.

“It's always been puzzling why the bus lane coming into Swansea only starts by the village hotel.
Why isn't there a bus lane starting right out at jersey marine and possibly coming in through the docks. Then all the coaches, buses and taxis coming into Swansea won't get blocked up in the queing traffic.
Why not put a top back on the old railway bridge stone pillars in the river tawe between sainsburys and sa1 which could then be used by buses or cyclists.
A dedicated parking area for all the camper vans using the ferry terminal is also needed around sa1 and fabian way where they can hook up to water and electricity supplies and leave their camper vans safely while they visit swansea.”

“I dont bother taking my kids to Blackpool to see the lights, we just drive from Fabian Way to Oystermouth and you see an endless amount of red.”
