POSSIBLY the showing of this new version, made in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company and chosen to open the World Shakespeare Festival, has come too late for all those English students who have been desperately sweating over the play. But it is still well worth watching, especially if, like me, you can only understand really the Bard when he is brought to life. Filmed partly on location, the production moves the action from the Roman forum to post-independence Africa, and features an all-black cast, including former Coronation Street actor Ray Fearon as Mark Antony, Peep Show star Joseph Johnson Patterson as Brutus and Jeffrey Kisson as Caesar.
