Judges give approval to songwriter
A YOUNG singer-songwriter from Carmarthenshire has been given the thumbs up by judges at the Open Mic UK auditions.
Cara Ludlow, aged 18, from Caio near Llanwrda, has made it through to the competition's regional finals and will now be performing in the event's live showcases.
Open Mic UK 2013 is the biggest music competition for singers and solo artists, searching for the UK's best singers, songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material.
Cara, a pupil at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, Llandovery is now in the running to compete for a place in the grand final within The O2 arena in London. Thousands of hopefuls entered nationwide and hundreds of auditionees queued patiently on the day for their turn to impress the judges.
Cara performed an original song entitled 'Last Night' and accompanied herself on the guitar.
She has been writing songs since she was eleven and playing at local festivals, but this is her first attempt at entering a musical talent competition.
Having written numerous songs it was a challenge to choose one and cut it down to the two minute time limit."
With a larger time slot in the next round, she can't wait to show the judges her whole song and perform in front of a live audience.
