Jordan Williams ruled out of Scarlets Pro12 clash against Zebre
By Robert Lloyd
JORDAN Williams will miss the Scarlets’ RaboDirect Pro12 clash with Zebre in Italy on Friday evening.
The 20-year-old back has a shoulder sprain which he picked up in the 26-26 Heineken Cup draw with Racing Metro last weekend.
As well as Williams, the West Wales region will also be without joint captain Rob McCusker and hooker Ken Owens once again.
McCusker is still recovering from a calf injury, while Owens – who has been named in Warren Gatland’s 35-man autumn series squad – is nursing an abdominal problem.
The Scarlets are able to welcome back wing Kristian Phillips and the versatile Gareth Owen from injury, while Romanian prop Horatiu Pungea could feature.
“He is available to play for us and is very much in Danny’s thinking in terms of the forward pack,” said Scarlets assistant coach Mark Jones.
“Obviously Samson is unavailable again so we have to decide whether we freshen it up or go with what we have and look to get him out there playing semi-pro rugby this weekend to see where he is at.
“He is a very athletic man, very big and in very good condition. I think he is going to be more of a man-handler than a ball-handler based on his physique!”
