Jonathan de Guzman: Swansea City win against Sunderland is vital
JONATHAN de Guzman has stressed the importance of Saturday's home match with Sunderland as Swansea City look to end their winless home Premier League run.
Swansea have not taken three points from a top flight match at the Liberty since beating Newcastle last March.
This season a draw with Liverpool has come in between defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal.
Now de Guzman is looking to end that poor run when the Black Cats visit.
"This is probably one of the most important weeks of our season," said the Dutch midfielder.
"It will be a great start if we can win this game against Sunderland, coming back from an international break.
"I think it will be a difficult match for both sides, but it’s a game that we should win, and as we are playing at home, I think the three points is mandatory.
"We’ve been playing good football this season, we just need to score goals. We showed a great example of that against Southampton.
"We are creating a lot of chances and just not scoring, but I think the home fans will help us do that this weekend."
Having pulled out of the Holland squad with a groin injury, de Guzman is back in contention to take on Gus Poyet's side.
He is very different to their previous manager so there may be a different philosophy but we have to keep playing our football nd the points will come from there.
"It's never easy for players or the coach coming in but it is a fresh new start for them and they will be looking forward to it and hope it is a positive move.
"This is one o ths most important weeks of our season. It will be great start if we win this week and five moivation for next two gmes. We have trained well and are glad to have some injured players back."
