Joint Swansea and Neath Port Talbot school improvement project
MEMBERS of Swansea Council's cabinet have given the go-ahead to an education collaboration with the Neath Port Talbot local authority.
The two councils are to work together to create a single shared school improvement "hub" in a bid to drive up standards.
Last year a regional improvement service was launched covering six councils in South West and Mid Wales — along with Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire is teaming up with Pembrokeshire, and Powys with Ceredigion.
A report before Swansea cabinet said the hub — which it is hoped will be up-and-running by next September — would help to improve the quality of teaching and school leadership, as well as standards in numeracy and literacy amongst pupils.
