Job losses at Swansea call centre
Almost 50 jobs are set to go from a Swansea call centre.
TUI UK & Ireland, which runs the centre on behalf of the holiday brands Thomson and First Choice, said 48 posts are to go in its cruise support and sales team at its office in Mariner Street.
The company said the decision follows a review of the business, and it now plans to handle sales calls through its network of retail shops, while its Luton office would take over support services.
Its18-strong payroll team in Swansea remains unaffected.
Kathryn Ward, retail and financial service director said; “This is a difficult decision and the welfare of the employees impacted is our priority. “We are committed to working through and validating our proposals with them and then subject to that, ensuring that we consider suitable alternative employment within the organisation whilst maintaining the excellent service our customers expect from us.”
The company has now begun an official 45-day consultation with the staff.
