Jamie Roberts set to miss Wales's autumn series
JAMIE Roberts is likely to miss Wales’s autumn internationals because of an ankle injury sustained playing for his club Racing Metro.
The Lions man has been ruled out for up to two months after returning to Cardiff to undergo surgery.
The injury means Roberts can expect to unavailable for the first three Tests of the campaign, while the final game, against Australia on November 30, falls outside the IRB’s Test window, so Racing do not have to release him.
The Parisians’ assistant coach Laurent Labit said: “Jamie has reported back to us after 10 days in Cardiff for the operation.
“He will be out for at least two months after surgery and will hopefully be back playing some time in November, but he will probably miss the Wales Tests.”
Craig Mitchell also faces a lengthy lay-off after damaging a pectoral muscle during a Premiership A league match.
Exeter Chiefs’ coach Rob Baxter said the ex-Ospreys’ prop would probably need to undergo surgery to correct the problem.
