Jail warning to banned driver
A POLISH slaughterman who drove his car while disqualified for a second time was warned he may have been jailed.
Appearing before Carmarthen magistrates last Wednesday, Tomas Piotr Jurusik, 31, of Ash Grove, Carmarthen, admitted driving his car on Glanant Road in the early hours of July 4.
Jurusik also admitted driving without insurance.
Prosecuting, Jeff Thomas said police officers recognised Jurusik, and they arrested him for being a banned driver.
Jurusik was disqualified for 24 months in January 2009 after driving with excess alcohol, and last August he was caught driving while disqualified.
Defending, Mike Reed, said Jurusik planned to return to Poland with his wife who he met in Carmarthen and take over the family farm.
In passing sentence, magistrates told Jurusik custody had been considered. He was disqualified from driving for two years, fined £1,000, and ordered to pay costs of £60 and a Victim of Crime surcharge of £15.
