Investigation into body found in Dafen Park
THE body of a man was discovered early yesterday morning in Dafen Park, Llanelli.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said that police were called to the grounds shortly before 7.15am.
She said that the report related to the discovery of the body of a 41-year-old man.
Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
The fire service also attended the scene after being called at 7.23am.
A Tweet from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "Llanelli crew have assisted the police with a casualty in the Dafen area."
A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman later said they had helped but could not comment any further.
Paramedics were also in attendance.
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We sent a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene, where one man was pronounced dead."
A police spokeswoman said the dead man's next of kin had been informed along with the coroner.
Sharen Davies, a rural councillor for the Dafen ward, said: "Our condolences go out to the families and all those around them.
"It has got to be a shock to the community to find anybody in that situation.
"I don't know who found the person, but our thoughts are with him or her and the effect that it has had on them.
"It's sad for all concerned – it's such a shame."
