Insurance giant Admiral creating 100 jobs in Swansea
INSURANCE giant Admiral is taking on more than 100 additional staff in Swansea.
The firm, which already employs more than 1,800 people across two offices in SA1 and Swansea Vale, has revealed plans for its recruitment drive.
Admiral is taking on an extra 108 people in Swansea, 88 in Cardiff and 40 in Newport.
The news comes 24 hours after clinical research company PRA announced it would be doubling the size of its workforce in Swansea and hiring another 100 staff.
Admiral is recruiting in call centre departments including sales, customer services and renewals.
Admiral's head of people services, Ceri Assiratti, said: "It's fantastic to see the business continue to expand. We're recruiting significantly for our offices across South Wales and are looking for high-quality people to help us provide great service for our customers.
"We've had many successful years here in Wales and are delighted and proud to be growing further."
Next year Admiral is due to move into its revamped headquarters in Cardiff city centre, as well as move to a new office in Newport's redeveloped Cambrian Centre.
Admiral is the only Wales-based company listed in the FTSE 100.
It has been listed in the Sunday Times list of 100 Best Companies to Work For for 13 years running, and is currently ranked ninth in the UK as well as being named the Best Large Workplace in the UK in the Great Place to Work Institute's list of best workplaces.
Earlier this year, Admiral revealed its turnover for the first three months of the year took a tumble.
The firm turned over £551 million in the first three months of the year.
This was down from £586 million for the same time in 2012.
At the time Admiral chief executive officer Henry Engelhardt said: "Little has changed since the full-year results and our expectations for 2013 remain positive and unchanged.
"Year-on-year UK car insurance market premiums are down around 10 per cent."
