A CARMARTHESHIRE university is launching an innovative award scheme to reward students who boost their employability skills through extra-curricular activities.

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David, which has bases in Carmarthen and Lampeter, has designed the TSD+ Award designed to run alongside the university's academic programmes and provide opportunities for students to build core skills to improve their future career prospects.

The TSD+ bronze, silver and gold awards will be given to students who demonstrate a commitment to developing five key attributes that have been recognised as being desired by employers: communication, teamwork, learning and personal development, active citizenship and creative problem solving.

The TSD+ Awards have been created to encourage students to develop skills outside of their chosen area of study and they will be asked to successfully complete one activity relating to each of the five key attributes over three years.
