Information was at hand
REGARDING your stories "More woe for specialist fire service vehicle" and "Demand to question fire chief" (Post, Nov 28) and also recent TV exposure over manning levels, it is interesting to hear Swansea Council leader David Phillips now sees that Swansea councillors need a "wider understanding of the issues". Strange, then, that he ousted former fire fighter and Swansea councillor Gordon Walker out of the very post that would have given them exactly this information!
Incidentally, having campaigned myself while a serving fireman over the Pontardawe fiasco I had reason to write to the fire authority members at that time to inform them of the truth so they could have a better understanding of the issues at stake, they did nothing, didn't even have the decency to reply, not one of them.
Now we have a Fire Authority presiding over questionable decisions made by Fire Brigade management which are resulting in the on going articles in your paper culminating so far in your recent story.
Labour leader Councillor Phillips finishes off by saying "I am very impressed by the knowledge and integrity of our representatives." Unbelievable!
Having been a former Labour Party member and supporter for most of my adult life before becoming involved with local politicians, I now have no political leanings what so ever.
I would however rather eat my own roasted feet than ever vote Labour again!
