Imagine what Martinez could do with £6million

I WAS never much good at maths.

I thought long division was something to do with the Beazer Homes League, and that algebra played in the African Nations Cup.

I can count up all the girlfriends I've had.

It's all the fingers on my right hand and, if you include the fit ones, one on the left.

I say fit — she used to go to the gym.

To use the vending machines.

Cost her a fortune all those chocolate bars — unlike Jason Scotland and Angel Rangel.

Those two cost Swansea City a grand total of £35,000 two summers ago.

That's a lot of Snickers, but it's peanuts to a football club.

Now the word is that the pair of them could be off.

Scotland could go to Middlesbrough or Fulham, we are told, with a fee in excess of £2million being mentioned.

Rangel, meantime, is on the radar for Celtic, West Ham and Manchester City if the stories are true.

The suggestion is that he could be worth as much as £4million which, I can tell you, is twice as much as £2million.

Add it all together and you have got a lot of dosh — the sort Swansea have never had in their bank account before.

I would be disappointed to see Scotland leave because I've always been a fan.

Okay, so he sometimes plays like his head's somewhere else, but you can't question his brilliant goalscoring record.

I would be even more sorry to see the back of Rangel, who has been a joy to watch since Roberto Martinez spotted him playing against Benidorm.

The place is a haven for football — they've even got a bar named after Gary Lineker.

Some of the boys reckon Rangel and Scotland owe Swansea something, that Martinez gave them their chance and they should stick around.

Sadly, it doesn't work like that.

One of them is from Trinidad, the other from Catalonia.

They have no emotional attachment to the Swans and they've got people in their ears talking about huge pay rises and a chance to play against the best.

No wonder the pair of them have hinted in the Post that they will be interested.

It will be a shame to see both go, but I'd take the money and spend it elsewhere if the offers do come.

Martinez has bought some diamonds with a relative pittance since he took over.

Just imagine what he could do with a few million quid.

EVEN though he plays for Manchester United, I like Ryan Giggs.

I'm glad he has won a PFA player of the year award.

But, after 12 league starts in 2008-9, I just can't understand why he won it this season.

THE Swans might not be off to the Premier League, but it looks increasingly likely that they will be off to Newcastle United next season.

Snigger, snigger.

It will be interesting to see how many of their famously loyal fans turn up.
